Artistic Statement
My creative practice is rooted in movement, delving into the intersections of personal and social histories through linear or non-linear narratives. At the heart of my practice lies a psychological intensity, shaped by the dynamic tension between internal and external forces. My performances aim to embody these meeting points, inviting audiences into visceral experiences that reveal profound connections between body, story, and truth.
I am captivated by the unique power of dance to tell stories and its role in shaping storytelling traditions. Drawing on a background in African dance theatre, storytelling, physical theatre, performance poetry, genres which combine speech and movement, my work integrates these influences into a dynamic and layered form of expression.
I am a teaching-artist and deliver workshops for various audiences. I can design my workshops in relation to various subject areas: dance technique, artistic experiment, storytelling, dramaturgy and performance.
